Reminiscent History Of The Ozark Region

This manuscript covers the vast Ozark Region of Arkansas and Missouri. The database contains numerous biographical sketches of prominent citizens of counties which fell within the Ozark Region of Arkansas and Missouri.

The territory known under the general name of “Ozark Region ” comprises that portion of the Trans-Mississippi country extending west from longitude 13° 50′ in Missouri and Arkansas, into the Indian country, to longitude 18° west of Washington, and north from latitude 33° 50′ to latitude 38 degrees-the boundaries meandering like the great and picturesque range of hills from which the name is taken. The region may be said to embrace twenty-six counties in Missouri and twenty-nine in Arkansas, all prosperous little commonwealths, inhabited by an industrious people.
