Lenora “Nora” Ruth Williams, 93, of La Grande, died Saturday, Feb.19, 1994, at Mountain Vista Care Center.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Cove Cemetery the Rev. Kenton Thielen of the La Grande First Baptist Church officiating.
Mrs. Williams was born on May 20, 1900, to Grant and Lucy Robin (Hayes) Gardner in Center, Colo. She moved with her family to Burntfork, Wyo., and then to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1910, and to Cove in 1912. On April 24, 1917, she married Edward W. Meroney. They divorced, in 1925. She married Raymond Williams on March 20, 1928, in La Grande. They made their home in Antles Lane in Cove. Mrs. Williams worked for the Episcopal Church Camp in Cove for 20 years. She was a member of the Wild Rose Rebekah Lodge at Cove for many years. In 1978 she made her home at Island City.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Leora Meroney of Caldwell, Idaho; son-in-law, Alvin Nibler of La Grande; granddaughters, Suzanne Horn of Caldwell, Idaho, Fay Good of Boise, Idaho, and Jane Fisheron New Plymouth, Idaho; great grandchildren, James and Jason Good, Justin and Melissa Fisher and Jennifer Horn; great great grandsons, Jaired and Jordon Otto; and other relatives and friends. Two sisters and two brothers died earlier.
