Start Now Joseph, Oregon Donald Franz Buhler Funeral services for local ranch owner Don Buhler, 88, who died Monday, March 19, 2007, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Joseph United Methodist Church. A reception will follow at 1 p.m. at the Buhler Ranch at the foot of Mount Joseph near Joseph will follow. A full obituary will be published next week. Wallowa County Chieftain – March 22, 2007 Contributed By: Sue Wells Second Obit. Donald Franz Buhler, real estate developer and local rancher, died in Portland on March 19, 2007, at the age of 88. During his final weekend, he was surrounded by his grandchildren. Don was born on August 24, 1918, in Polson, Montana, in a house that his father, a lumber yard owner, built near Flathead Lake. Shortly thereafter, his parents, Jake and Anna, and his little sister, Marjorie, headed west to Los Angeles. At L.A. High, Don met future bride, Virginia Reed. During those teenage years, Don’s intellectual curiosity and spirit of adventure drew him to numerous activities. He joined youth groups, was a star member of the drama club, took elocution classes and practiced public speaking, among other activities. Start Now Union County, Oregon Obituary Larry Eldridge “Ty” Beardsley, 70, formerly of the Grande Ronde Valley, died Aug. 15 in Polson, Mont. Memorial services begins at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Friends may go to www.buffalohillfh.com to post condolences to the family. Ty was born Sept. 17, 1937, to Eldridge and Amy Lou (Holman) Beardsley in Walla Walla. He grew up in Eastern Oregon and married Viola Mae Vanderpool in Lewiston, in 1958. Ty was a farmer and rancher in the Grande Ronde Valley. He moved from the area in 1977 and went to Alaska to work as a heavy equipment operating supervisor in the North Slope oil fields. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycling, traveling, raising and working with horses and spending time in the back country with his mules, horses and close friends. Ty is survived by daughters, Debbie Seifert, Karrie Beardsley and Lori Nelson; son, Scott Beardsley; brother, Skip Beardsley; sister, Jerri Lee Beggs; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
