Elvin Willard Allen died Jan. 30, 1996, at the home of his great-niece, Julie Wetzel. He was 93 years of age.

He was born Feb 28, 1903 in Wallowa, the second son of Jess and Daisy Allen of Middle Valley. He lived on the family farm until the 1930′s when he moved to Newport.

He was a carpenter by trade and he served in World War II where he helped with building projects on various islands after they were bombed.

Survivors include brother, Glenn Allen of Milton-Freewater; sisters, Bess Dyatt, Simi Valley, Calif., Margie Forino, Beaverton and Helen Roberts, of Elgin, formerly of Wallowa and a host of nieces and nephews.
