J.P. Dennis, of the firm of Dennis & Co., was born in Somerset County, Maine, in 1832, removed to N.Y. in 1851; thence to Dubuque, Iowa, in 1853, and to this city in 1867. He served his country in the late war from 1862 until 1863 in Co. G., 40th I.I.

Frank L. Dennis, editor and proprietor of the Odebolt Observer, was born in Clinton County, Ia. in 1852. He learned his trade in the De Witt Observer office; remained there until 1878, then moved to Wall Lake, Sac County, and established the Wall Lake Journal, which he sold in April, 1881. William Wilson, the pioneer ancestor of this family, emigrated from Stewardstown, County of Tyrone, Ireland, in 1732, when 19 years of age. The Town of Stewardstown is in the parish of Donagheny in the province of Ulster and eighty-two miles northwest of Dublin, long noted for its very superior linen cloth.

Compiled military service records for 1,235 Rough Riders, including Teddy Roosevelt have been digitized. The records include individual jackets which give the name, organization, and rank of each soldier. They contain cards on which information from original records relating to the military service of the individual has been copied. Included in the main jacket are carded medical records, other documents which give personal information, and the description of the record from which the information was obtained.

Marriage records of Liberty County Georgia, 1785-1895
These marriage records were abstracted from unbound marriage bonds and licenses in the Liberty County Courthouse, Hinesville, Georgia. The names were copied as they were spelled on the bonds, often barely legible and often spelled differently on the same bond. Sometimes the marriages were performed before the licenses were issued. The first date given in the abstracts is the date of the license or bond; the second is the date of marriage. The following abbreviations are used in these abstracts with the meaning indicated:
