1766 Burials

The following data is extracted from Church Record of Old Ebenezer Church, Effingham County, Georgia.

George Waldhauer, a child of one year, died Feb. 18, 1766, and was buried on the 19th.

Christian Lebrecht Rieser, a boy of 11 years, died April 23, 1766, and was buried on the 24th in Bethany.

Gabriel Maurer died March 1, 1766, and was buried on the 2nd in the Plantation cemetery.

Benaiah Schwinkhofer died Aug. 11, 1765, and was buried on the 12th.

Mary Buntz, a child of 2 years, died June 2, 1766, and was buried on the 3rd.

Margaret Schwinkhofer died in the night before June 5, 1766, and was buried on the same day in the Town cemetery. She attained an age of over 83 years.

Mary Magdalene Schubtrein, a child of 9 months, died July 7, 1766, and was buried on the 8th here in the Town cemetery.

Hans Maurer died early on Aug. 31, 1766, and was buried towards evening.

Hannah Margaret Leimberger died Sept 3, 1766, and was buried on the 4th. Age 13 months.

Michael Scherer, a stranger among us, died Sept. 15, 1766, and was buried on the 16th.

Abdi, a baptized Negro child belonging to John Gruber, died Sept. 11, 1766, and was buried on the 12th with the usual Christian ceremonies. Age, 2 years, 8 months.

Obadiah Pechtle, a child of 7 months, died Sept. 12, 1766 in the evening, and was buried on the 13th.

Angelica Oechsle died Oct. 30, early in the night, and was buried on the 31 in Bethany, 1766.

Samuel Graves died in the night of Oct. 30, 1766, and was buried in the evening of the same day.

Mrs. Gertraut Boltzius, widow, entered into eternal rest by a blessed death early on Nov. 7, 1766, and was interred on the 8th in the Town cemetery. She was in the 48th year of her age.

Judith Flerl, a child of 9 months, died Oct. 10, 1766, and was buried on the 11th in Zions cemetery.

Martin Lackner died Nov. 12, 1766, and was buried on the 13th in the Town cemetery. He was about 56 years old.

Apollonia Gress died in Bethany in the evening of Nov. 22, 1766, and was buried on the 23rd in the Town cemetery.

Salome Schubtrein, a child of something more than 3 months, died Nov. 23, 1766, and was buried on the 24th in Zions cemetery.

Salome Schneider, a child 0f 3 months, died early on Nov. 24, 1766, and was buried the same day in Zions cemetery.

George Kogler died early on Nov. 27, 1766, and was buried in the evening of the same day.

Mary Heinle died Nov. 30, 1766, and was buried the next day. Her age, 28 years less 25 days.

John Caspar Waldhauer died early on Dec. 3, 1766, and was quietly buried in the evening of the same day. Age, 70 years.

John Theobald Kieffer, an important member of Ebenezer congregation and a faithful deacon of the same, entered into his rest Dec. 7, 1766, and received Christian burial on the 8th with the attendance of many members of the congregation.

Christian Hesler died in the night before Dec. 21, 1766, and was buried on the 22nd.

N. B. The deceased have been reported up to this point.
