Dittemore, Joseph E.

The following data is extracted from Record of Ancestors and Descendants of Adam Dittemore 1799-1874 and Henry Dittemore 1813-1884.

Joseph E. Dittemore, born May 7, 1842, died Feb. 20, 1907. He married Miss Ellen Lower (May 31, 1849 - Jan. 5, 1921) daughter of Henry and Sarah (Sandy) Lower, pioneer settlers in Buchanan County, Mo. Joseph and Mary Ellen moved from Buchanan County to Colorado where they homesteaded their first land, being among the pioneers of Elbert County. Their lands at one time consisted of 1,420 acres on which large crops of wheat were raised. He also engaged extensively in the cattle business. They were the founders of the Christian Church at Elbert and he served as a director of the Elbert County Bank. which he helped organize. Their children:

106. Adam Leslie, b. Oct. 8, 1867.
107. Anna May. b. Dec. 8. 1869, m. James Neely.
108. Iva Nora died in infancy.
109. JOHN CURTIS DITTEMORE, born March 26, 1874. Married Jan. 16, 1898, Rosette Miller. Res. 1847 Lincoln St., Denver, Colo. They have no children.
110. James Colvin, b. May 8. 1876.
111. Frederick Leonard, b. Nov. 13. 1879.
112. Elsie Lillian, b. July 20, 1882.
113. Walter Ernest, b. April 13, 1887.
