He was educated in the public schools of Addison, N. Y. and graduated from the Elmira Business College 1875, when he went to Sari Bernadine Co., Cal., where he engaged in fruit and grocery business. A few years later went to Haywards and opened a drug store, afterward in cashier's office of Wells Fargo Express Co., San Francisco.
