Milam, Walker Mrs.

The following data is extracted from Biographies of the Cherokee Indians.

(See Oolootsa, Cordery, Downing and Grant)—Maude Irene McSpadden, born April 5, 1896, educated at Chelsea, and A. & M. College at Stillwater, graduated from the Chelsea High School in 1916, married at Chelsea May 19, 1917 William Walker Milam, born July 26, 1896. educated at Chelsea, Kemper Military School, Boonville, Missouri and Oklahoma University. He served in the army during the World War; he is president of the Milam Oil Company, is a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. Mr. and Mrs. Milam are the parents of: William Thomas, born June 19, 1918, and Walker Mortlock, born January 24, 1921.

Robert Rogers, a quarter-blood Cherokee married Sallie Vann, an eighth-blood Cherokee, born January 23, 1818. He died July 4, 1842 and she died May 28, 1882. They were the parents of Clement Vann Rogers, born January 11, 1839, married Mary America Schrimsher, born October 9, 1839. She died May 28, 1890 and he died October 28, 1911. He was the oldest member of the Oklahoma State Constitutional Convention, and Rogers county was named in his honor.

Clement Vann, and Mary America Rogers were the parents of: Sally Clementine, married John Thomas McSpadden; Robert Martin, died aged seventeen; Maude Ethel, married Captain Lane Lane; May, married John Matthews Yocan, and Frank Stine; William Penn Rogers, the celebrated comedian and movie actor.

John Thomas and Sallie Clementine McSpadden are the parents of the subject of this sketch.
