Sixth Generation

The following data is extracted from The Descendants of Thomas White.

(60) JOHN6 (Thomas5 John4 Thomas3 Thomas2 Thomas1), b. July 21, 1789. Resides in Marblehead; master mariner. He was engaged in privateering during the war of 1812—15, and was made a prisoner on board the Privateer Swordfish, of Gloucester, and retained on board H. M. Ship Glory, at Chatham in, Eng., until the peace. Married, first, Apr. 10, 1814, Ruth, dau. of Edward and Mary Brooks, b. 1795, d. April 19, 1825, aged 29. Married, second, Feb. 10, 1836, his cousin, Grace.

70. RUTH HASKELL7 b. Dec. 29, 1814; m. Oct. 1, 1837, Michael H., son of John, Jr. and Grace Bubier Reynolds (see Haskell Family), b. Jan. 27, 1819; lives in Marblehead; shoe manufacturer.

75. ELIAS7 b. May 15, 1828; lives in Marblehead. He was in the war of the rebellion in 1864—5, attached to the 4th Mass. H. A.; m. June 17, 1855, Hannah N., dau. of Samuel and Eliza Dodd, b. Sept. 16, 1833.

78. MARTIN LUTHER7 b. Aug. 2, 1837; resides in Boston. He served three years and two months in the U. S. navy, during the rebellion, on board the U. S. brig Bainbridge, and U. S. Ship Don Ching. At present he is sergeant of the 2d Boston Police, he m. first, July 7,1362, Frances N., dau. of Charles and Frances N. Badger, b. Nov. 14, 1835, d. Jan. 30, 1865; no issue. Married, second, May 1, 1866, Henrietta B., dau. of Henry and Lydia Dyer, b. Sept. 5,1837.

FRED. L.8 b. Feb. 12, 1867.

79. HENRY KIRK7 b. June 3, 1840. He was a member of the 11th Reg’t Vt. Vols. and was shot in the bead at Cold Harbor, Va., June 1, 1861, and died the next day.
