Foster, (Son) – Obituary

A Sad Affliction
Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Foster, living at Sanger, sent their two children a girl about 10 years and a boy about 7 yeras of age to live with their grandmother at Ontariio, for the purpose of going to school. On Saturday the children were at Washo in Idaho, and the boy was out playing with two others about the same age and in the evening he was missing. Inquiring of the other two boys of his whereabouts, they said they did not know but supposed he had got lost in a field where they had gone to look after some stock. They brought in his overcoat but could give no account of him. Search was made by the neighbors all that evening and they cut away the ice in an irrigation ditch as long as the moon gave them light, but it became so dark that it was useless to work longer until daylight. In the meantime the other two boys were closely questioned and they persisted in declaring that they did not know what had become of him. About nine o’clock Sunday morning one of the boys finally told the true story and showed where the little fellow went under the ice and upon searching, his body was soon found. It is hard to explain why the boys so long refused to tell of his being drowned and where he was to be found.
His grandmother brought his body to Union, where it was met by the father and mother on Thursday last and the funeral services took place in the Presbyterian church on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. G.M. Irwin officiating.
The greatly afflicted father and mother have the sympathy of the people of Union.
