Frank H. Sargent, M.D., a rising young medical practitioner of Pittsfield, was born in this town, October 31, 1861, son of Charles H. and Almira (Ring) Sargent. His great-grandfather, Benjamin Sargent, served under General Washington in the Revolutionary War. He later became a Baptist minister, and preached in Pittsfield from 1808 to 1818. He died

This survey of Wintergreen Cemetery, Port Gibson, Mississippi, was completed in 1956 by Mr. Gordon M. Wells and published by Joyce Bridges the same year. It contains the cemetery readings Mr. Wells was able to obtain at that date. It is highly likely that not all of the gravestones had survived up to that point, and it is even more likely that a large portion of interred individuals never had a gravestone.
JOSEPH SARGENT, a brother of the above, married Lucinda, daughter of Benj. Skinner, Esq. For a while he was engaged as high-school teacher. He studied theology, and became a Universalist clergyman-was quite talented. He was Chaplain in the army, and died in the service.
Edmund Ingalls, son of Robert, was born about 1598 in Skirbeck, Lincolnshire, England. He immigrated in 1628 to Salem, Massachusetts and with his brother, Francis, founded Lynn, Massachusetts in 1629. He married Ann, fathered nine children, and died in 1648.

The compilation of this Howe Family Genealogy is due to the researches of Judge Daniel Wait Howe of Indianapolis, Indiana. Begun many years ago, the greater part of the work was done by him and under his supervision. It proved to be a stupendous task and involved much labor and expense.
