Vandermulen, Roy E. – Obituary

Roy E. Vandermulen, 93, La Grande, died Monday afternoon at Mountain Vista Care Center.

Mr. Vandermulen was born Oct. 16, 1895 in La Grande to Orange and Eleanor (Edwards) Vandermulen. He married Eva Claris Bay on Dec. 24, 1919 in La Grande.

He was a farmer near Summerville most of his adult life. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Claris Vandermulen, La Grande; daughters, Juanita L. Hyde, Baker, Dorothy J. Pound, Seattle, and Bethel M. Gruis, La Grande; sister Ruth Grace Bay, Hilgard; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A brother, Bonnie Vandermulen and a sister, Pansy Skillings, died earlier.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Payne Family Mortuary with the Rev. Bruce McConnell of the La Grande United Methodist Church officiating.

A concluding service and interment will follow at the Summerville Cemetery.
