Sheep Man Dead
John Steiger Died Suddenly While on Fishing Trip.

The sudden death of John Steiger well known sheep man, occurred Friday afternoon of last week while on a fishing trip near Lime, in Baker county.

Death came while Mr. Steiger was driving his car along the road near where three others of the party were fishing. He was heard to call and seen to sink down in the seat.

Knowing he was subject to epileptic fits, the companions rushed the stricken man to a physician at Huntington before they learned he was dead.

Deceased was fifty-two years of age and had been a resident of this vicinity where he had been known as a prominent sheep man. His home was in Baker.

He leaves a widow and stepson besides several other relatives.

The funeral was held at Baker Sunday afternoon and burial was in the Baker cemetery. Those who attended the funeral from North Powder were: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jones, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Hudelson, Mrs. Voney E. Lee, Mrs. George A. Lee.

Mrs. Steiger is a niece of Geo. A. Lee of this city.

Widow Is Named Executrix Of Will

    Tuesday of this week Mrs. Cleopatria Steiger upon her petition, was appointed executrix of the will of John Steiger whose sudden death occurred late last week. The property left by the deceased is estimated at $50,000.00 with an annual income of $5,000. The following are the benficiaries and the amounts each will receive under the terms of the will: Emil Steiger, of Baker, a brother, $1,000; Molly Bachman, a niece, living in New Jersey, $250; George Addy, John and Sophie Bechman nephews living in New Jersey, $100 each; Walter Steiger, a half brother, 160 acres of land on Pritchard creek; Mrs. Hans Ott a half sister, living at Ranier, $250; U.F. Steiger, a half brother, living in Switzerland, $250; Mrs. Sophie Albertine, a half sister living in New Jersey, $250; Myrtle Jane McDaniel of Portland, a granddaughter, a $1,000 liberty bond; Charles Payton, a grandson, $1000.
