Jones, C. W. “Tiny” – Obituary

Haines, Oregon

C.W. “Tiny” Jones, 82, a long-time Baker City resident and Baker and Union County businessman, died Sept. 7 at his home. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Baker Elks Lodge, with a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday at Eagle Valley Cemetery with Pastor Gordon Bond of the Richland Christian Church.

Mr. Jones was born Dec. 27, 1923, in Richland to C.E. “Curly” Jones and Pearl Ritter Jones. He was raised in Richland and graduated from high school in 1942.

He served in the Army during World War II, and married Phillis Bennehoff in 1946. He started trucking in 1947 and owned Jones Truck Line for 30 years until he sold the business.

The family also owned a ranch between Balier and Haines for many year. He also worked part-time for Blarchford Farm and bough and sold cows for Armour & Co. He retired in 2003.

Survivors include a daughter, Kris Jones of Baker City, a son, Everett of Baker City, and a brother, Ralph Jones of Moses Lake, Wash. Dying earlier were two brothers, Herschel and Everett.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or to support multiple sclerosis research, in care of Coles funeral Home, 1950 Place St., Baker City 97814.
