George Hendrickson, 81, of La Grande died Nov. 27 at his home. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Island City Ward. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Loveland Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Hendrickson was born Dec. 30, 1924, to Elmo and Jehzell Merrill Hendrickson in Cardston, Alberta, Canada.

He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from July 1943 to January 1946.

A 73-year resident of La Grande, Mr. Hendrickson was a retired rangeland fence builder. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his children, Leon Hendrickson of La Grande, Christina Hammer of West Richland, Sandra Nelson of Kennewick, Phillip Hendrickson of Yakima and David Hendrickson of Grand Junction, Colo.; sisters, Mary Lou Victor of Enterprise and Edith Roedel of Boise; 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters, one brother and his parents.
