Gladys Sarah Hale, 93, of Corvallis, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1993, at Corvallis Manor.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel, Burns Mortuary of Hermiston with burial at the Echo, Oregon Cemetery.

Mrs. Hale was born May 28, 1900 at Lostine to Jacob Clairborne and Emily E. Hammack Womack. She grew up in Lostine and attended school there.

On Nov. 17, 1920, she married Roy Charles Hale at Pendleton. The couple lived at Echo where Mr. Hale was postmaster for many years. In 1929 they moved to Hermiston where Mr. Hale owned and operated Hales Tavern and Sporting Goods.

Her husband died in 1968, and in 1985, Mrs. Hale moved to Corvallis.

She was a member of the Elks Lodge, Rebekah Lodge, and Episcopal Church in Hermiston.

Survivors include a daughter, Claudine Shoen of Idaho Falls, Idaho; a son, Charles of Corvallis; sisters Clara Finstad of Port Lavaca, Texas and Mina Johnson of Enterprise; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

McHenry Funeral Home, Corvallis, is in charge of arrangements.
