Doherty, Harold E. – Obituary

Harold E. “Sonny” Doherty, 54, Canyon City, a former Baker resident, died Monday, June 6, 1963, at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Cathedral in Baker. The Rev. Tony Ozmiek of St. Elizabeth Community Hospital will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Doherty was born on Dec. 17, 1928, in Baker to Harold and Elma Luster Doherty. He attended schools in Baker. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served in the Korean conflict. He retired from Boise Cascade Corp. as a weighmaster. He was involved in rodeo and loved horses.

Survivors include his parents, Harold and Elma Doherty of Baker; two sons, Tim and Dan, both of Casper, Wyo.; two daughters, Kathleen Hurst of Elgin and Molly Doherty of Yakuatat, Alaska; two sisters, Shirley Dougharity of Baker and Louise Mitchell of La Grande; seven grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews and two aunts.

The family suggest memorial contributions to the charity of one’s choice through Gray’s West & Co. 1500 Dewey Ave. Baker.
