Charles Michael Doherty
Charles Michael Doherty, 88, a lifetime resident of La Grande, died Feb. 20 at a local care home. At the request of his family, there will be no public services. Arrangements are under the direction of Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Doherty was born Feb. 23, 1918, to Dennis F. and Mary “Mamie” (Doherty) Doherty in La Grande. He graduated from La Grande High School and then worked as a clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement. In his early years he enjoyed hunting. He and his wife belonged to the La Grande Country Club for more than 20 years and enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Doherty of La Grande; sons, Kerry Doherty of Portsmith, N.H., and Neil Doherty of Tri-Cities, Wash.; brother, Dennis Doherty of Pendleton; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dixie Ann Doherty
