Cole, Wilma Ellen – Obituary

Wilma Cole, 62, of Baker City, died Jan. 23, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Baker City.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield. Interment will be at 1 p.m. at Springfield Memorial Gardens in Springfield.

Wilma Ellen Cole was born on Dec. 6, 1945, in Visalia, Calif., to John and Nellie Ainsworth Cole. She was welcomed into a family of three brothers: Harvey Lee Cole, Ottawa “J.R.” Cole, Doyle Gene Cole; and one sister, Ruth Cole.

Wilma loved her family, friends and all animals. The members of the Haines Methodist Church were extra special to her because they welcomed her and Duffy (her schnauzer) into the congregation. It meant a lot to her to meet with people who love God, each other and critters too, her family said. Wilma was a generous, loving person and will be greatly missed by family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors and especially appreciated owning three horses in her lifetime.

Survivors include her sister, Ruth Cole of Baker City and two beloved pets, Duffy (a mini schnauzer), and Keiko (a Siamese cat); sister-in-law, Alma Cole of Cottage Grove, and Carol and Al Cookson, a former sister-in-law and her husband, from Mountain Home, Ark.; and numerous nephews, nieces, great- and great-great-nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Best Friends of Baker City through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 543, Halfway, OR 97834.
