Avon Childers, 73, Cove, died Saturday at the Veterans Hospital in Portland. He was a retired farmer and logger.
Mr. Childers was born April 16, 1905 in Dent County, Missouri, to James and Lura Lou (Anderson) Childers. He served with the armed forces during World War II.
Survivors include sons, Arthur Boone Childers, Cove, and James Bennet Childers, Seattle; nephews Bob Childers, Cove, and John Lawrence, Beaverton; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a brother, James M. Childers, on May 15, 1977.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Summerville Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Jim Frisbie of the Cove Methodist Church officiating.
Friends may call at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel until noon Tuesday.
