Omar M. Carroll, 93, of Baker City, died Oct. 25, 2006, at St.Elizabeth Care Center.

At his request, there will be no funeral. Private inurnment will be at the Wallowa Cemetery.

Omar was born on Aug. 5, 1913, at Brady, Neb., to Hubert Lawrence and Lucy Jane Carroll. In his early years, he lived in Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon. He moved to Baker City in 1933.

He was a mechanic and worked for Doug Benton for 30 years or more. He also lived at Halfway for a few years where he and his wife were radio dispatchers for the sheriff’s department. He settled back in Baker City after his retirement.

Omar loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; four brothers, Hubert, Joe, Patrick and Warren; five sisters, Lillie, Pearl, Daisey, Bertha and Ada; and wives, Abby, Eleanore and Garnet.

Survivors include his five children, Marjorie, Michael, Cleora, Diane and Rita; his brother, George Carroll of Baker City; two sisters, Violet Graham and Lois Music, both of Baker City; a stepdaughter, Dot Roger of Baker City; a stepson, Don Hensley of Klamath Falls; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice through Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814.
