Private, Q. M. C., 3rd Co., Training Div.; of Wilson County; son of W. E. and Mrs. Ann Nancy Winstead. Entered service May 27, 1919, at Raleigh, N.C. Sent to Ft. Thomas, Ky., May 27, 1918. Transferred to Camp Meiggs, D. C., June 25, 1918. Had influenza and spent most of time in hospital. Mustered out at Walter Reed Hospital, D. C., Feb. 12, 1919.
