Entered service at Rockingham, N.C., Aug. 18, 1917. Sent to Camp Lee, Va. Sailed for France May 21, 1918. Commissioned as 1st Lt. Aug. 17, 1917. At Base 101, St. Nazaire, France. Fought at Argonne Forest. Returned to USA May 31, 1919. Mustered out at Camp Dix, N. J., June 5, 1919.
