STEPHEN M.3 AYERS (Thomas2, John1) b. Feb. 6, 1809; m. April 8, 1837, Charlotte Emerson, dau. of Jonathan and Ruth (Bemis) Emerson, b. Dec. 30, 1815. They res. some years in Claremont and then came back and spent the rest of their lives in Cornish. A farmer and res. about a mile north of the Congregational Church. He d. July 16, 1895. She d. Sept. 26, 1892. Children, all b. in Claremont:

1. MARY JANE, b. Dec. 27, 1840; m. July 25, 1863, Hiram B. Ayers.
2. GEORGE H., b. Aug. 28, 1842.
3. LIZZIE S., b. Nov. 4,1844; m. Nov. 21, 1867, Worth C. Jordan. Two
children. (See Jordan.) She d. May 18, 1887.
4. SUSAN, b. May 10, 1847; m. Oct. 28, 1875, Russell C. Smith. One child: Charlotte.
5. ADA E., b. Dec. 30, 1850; d. July 29, 1876.
6. ELLA M., b. Dec. 18, 1854.
7. LAURA A., b. April 24, 1857; in. Dec. 25, 1880, Geo. M. King of Plainfield, Vt. Shed. July 27, 1881.
