Absentee Shawnee Tribe

Absentee Shawnee Indians. A division of the Shawnee who about 1845 left the rest of the tribe, then in Kansas, and removed to Indian Territory. In 1904 they numbered 459, under the Shawnee school superintendent in Oklahoma.
