Biographical Sketch of Robert E. Colyer, D. C., PH. C.

Dr. Robert E. Colyer, who is president of the Missouri Chiropractic College is also professor of symptomatology and pathology in that institution, was born in Perryville, Missouri, March 9, 1890, a son of John Read and Laura L. (Brewer) Colyer, the former a farmer by occupation. The son attended the public schools of St. Louis and was graduated in chiropractic on ‘the 26th of June, 1914, winning at that time the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic. He also gained the degree of Philosopher of Chiropractic, which was conferred by the Missouri Chiropractic College on the 1st of June, 1920. His entire life since his graduation has been devoted to professional interests. He was instructor in anatomy in the St. Louis Chiropractic College in 1914-15 and was then made professor of anatomy in that institution, so continuing to serve for five years. In May, 1920, he organized the Missouri Chiropractic College, which has incorporated under the laws of the state, and from the beginning he has been the president of the institution. He is regarded as a most able educator, imparting clearly, readily and impressively to others the knowledge that he has acquired. Conrad, George Arthur – Obituary

Flora, Wallowa County, Oregon Death Claims George A. Conrad George Arthur Conrad, 81 years of age and a pioneer resident of Flora, passed away at Hermiston on February 25, 1954. He had been in poor health for the past year. George was the son of Mr. And Mrs. J.C. Conrad and was born in Perry County, Missouri, August 29, 1873. He moved west with his parents in 1889 and they settled at Flora. In 1896 he was married to Nancy Agries Evans. To this union nine children were born, seven boys and 2 girls: Paul and Floyd of Hermiston, Arthur of LaGrande, Mark of Enterprise, Wallace of Angel Camp, Calif., John of Homedale, Idaho, Bob of Union, Mrs. Bruce Lockhart (Lillie) of Angel Camp, Calif., and Mrs. Arthur Michael (Mary) of Homedale, Idaho survive. Mrs. Conrad passed away in August of 1912. He then married Susan Strong, who passed away in January 1934. For the last twenty years he and his sister, Mrs. Sally Anson made their home at Hermiston. Biographical Sketch of J. W. Farrar

J. W. Farrar, farmer and stock; P. O. Mattoon; the subject of this sketch was born in South Carolina, near Charleston, March 4, 1827. He married Miss Ann M. Talbot Oct. 12, 1851; she was born in Henderson Co., Ky., Oct. 9, 1832; they had eight children, two living, viz., Joseph F. and Lizzie A. He lived about eighteen months in South Carolina, when, with his parents, he moved to Perry Co., Mo., where he engaged in the warehouse and wood business; he lived here with his parents about six months, when, with his grandparents, he went to Illinois and settled at Lebanon, in St. Clair Co., where he lived until he was 8 years of age; while here his grandfather died, and his grandmother and he went to Mount Vernon, Ind., where they lived with her son; he lived here three years; he then went to New Harmony and engaged on a farm, where he worked two years; he then went to Stewartsville and apprenticed to the tanning business, remaining three and a half years; he then returned to Perry Co., Mo., and engaged in tanning, following his trade some four years; he then engaged in shipping fowls to New Orleans, and followed the business about four years; he then followed his trade for about four years; he then went to Posey Co., Ind., and engaged in farming,...
