His education came partly from public schools and partly from Stockton College, and as a youth he learned the printer’s trade. As a journeyman printer he worked in a number of cities throughout the country and had the usual interesting experiences of one who follows that trade. He was among the early settlers of Oklahoma Territory, and for one year conducted a weekly paper at Taloga in Dewey County....
