Trindle, Donna Jean Jenkins Mrs. – Obituary

North Powder, Oregon Donna Jean Trindle, 57, of North Powder, died June 26, 2003, at her home. Her memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Haines United Methodist Church. Pastor Sally Wiens will officiate. There will be a reception after the service at the Haines United Methodist Church Community Hall. Donna was born on Jan. 26, 1946, at Oroville, Calif., to Orville and Mildred Miles Jenkins. She attended Humbold University and Cerrocosa Community College. She earned an associate degree in English. She was employed at St. Elizabeth Health Services for more than 20 years. Donna was a member of the Literary Council in California, Americorps and Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA). Survivors include her two sons, Jake and Ben Trindle and their spouses; and four grandchildren, Cooper, Cody, Casey and Chance. Ritsch, Lulu M. Steelman Mrs. – Obituary

Lulu M. Ritsch, 85, of Chico, Calif., died June 3, 2003, at the Chico Creek Care and Rehab Center. Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitations were Friday at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. Lulu was born March 21, 1918, at Vale to Melville E. Davis and Mary Jessie Dee Steelman. She started school at the White Star School in Vale and then transferred to Muddy Creek School in 1924. She then started the 11th grade at Baker High School and graduated in May 1937. Mrs. Ritsch was baptized in 1957 at the Baker City Christian Church. She met her husband, Henry Ritsch, at Pondosa where they were working for Collins Pine. The couple were married at Boise and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Feb. 23, 2002. Collins Pine transferred Henry to Chester, Calif., as a logging supervisor until he retired after 36 years. They lived in Butte County, Calif., for 28 years. Lulu was a homemaker and loved cooking, sewing and the outdoors. She will be missed greatly by her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Mary M. Ritsch, Henry – Obituary

Henry Ritsch, 88, of Chico, Calif., died May 24, 2002, at a Chico care center. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Henry was born May 7, 1914, at Potlatch, Idaho, to Valentine and Maria Ritsch. He married Lulu Davis on Feb. 23, 1940, at Boise. Henry worked for Collins Pine Co. for 36 years and received a Certificate of Recognition from the California Legislature for his dedicated service as a logging supervisor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Douglas; his sister, Anne; three brothers, Ed, Carl and Frank; grandson, Dean; brother-in-law, Bert Peterson; and son-in-law, Denver Stout. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lulu of Chico; a daughter, Mary Stout of Baker City; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Shirley Ritsch of Grants Pass; a sister, Elizabeth Patterson of Tigard; a brother-in-law, Sherrill Bushnell of Merlin; sisters-in-law, Fern Ritsch of Susanville and Gloria Ritsch of Grants Pass; grandsons, Vernon Stout, and his wife, Myra, and Damien Ritsch; granddaughter, Tami Fetter; great-grandchildren, Joe, Melissa, Dallas, Ray, David and Stephen; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Ritsch. St. John, Glenn Orville – Obituary

Baker City, Oregon Glenn Orville St. John, 81, of Baker City, died July 28, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center. At his request, Glenn was cremated and will not have a formal funeral service. Glenn was born April 10, 1921, in Chico, Calif., to Orville and Myrtle St. John. The family moved to Southern Oregon soon after. After his schooling, he drove log trucks. He served his country in World War II, spending 2 years in the South Pacific in the 1881st Aviation Engineers. The 1881st built landing strips in New Guinea and the Philippines where he witnessed the famous return of General MacArthur. After Glenn’s discharge, he was married to Anna Lorraine Nail of Spokane, Wash. He worked in the logging industry, driving truck and running a sawmill until he was injured in a logging accident in 1950. In spite of a permanent disability he farmed, cut electric poles, built another sawmill and sold real estate. He and his wife bought and sold property, building seven house and log cabins throughout Oregon. They moved to Eastern Oregon in 1968 and lived in the Granite and Sumpter areas until ill health mandated a move to Baker City in 1993. Anderson, Berlyn Audrey – Obituary

Berlyn Audrey Anderson, 2-year-old daughter of Caleb and Toby Anderson, died July 5, 2006. Her graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Visitations will be from 7 o’clock to 9 o’clock tonight at the Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. Berlyn was born on April 9, 2004, at Chico, Calif. Her mother, Toby, is a former Baker City resident. Survivors include her parents, Caleb and Toby Anderson; brother, Cole Anderson; grandmother Debra Anderson; grandparents, Ruben and Joan Montoya, Paul and Sheila Anderson and Kelly and Georgia Brown; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends who loved and treasured her in life and are now grieving her loss.
