Allender, Ida Amelia Bates – Obituary

Ida Amelia Bates [Allender] was born in Lahaston, Germany, April 12, 1846. Departed this life at the home of her daughter Mrs. Homer Zingg, March 27, 1914, aged 67 years, 11 months and 15 days. She was united in marriage to John Wesley Allender, Apr. 27, 1865, the husband having departed this life September 14, 1906.

To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter. Ernest and Oscar of Okanogan, Wash., and Nina Zingg of Olds, Iowa, who are left to mourn her loss, an infant son having preceded her in death.

She was baptized in the German Lutheran faith and was the youngest of a family of seven children, four brothers and three sisters. Of whom only one brother, Wm. Bates of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, survives.

The funeral services were held Sunday, Mar. 27, at 1 p.m., from the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. W. Zingg, conducted by Rev. Hyatt of the Congregational Church of Olds.

The body was laid to rest by the side of the husband and father in the Old Richwoods Cemetery northwest of Mt. Pleasant, near the home where she had spent her girlhood days.
