Subject: Visit to Exeter and Slane in March 2012
Just got back from an outstanding research trip to Slane and Exeter. Confirmed that Dexter castle was on Dexter land but also called Fleming castle by some. Also confirmed now owned by the same Lord who owns Slane castle. Didn't make it to Connaught but confirmed many of the land references are in Gaellic and need to be translated to current township names. Also confirmed location of Carrickdexter and found a great book at someone's house called The Boyne and The Blackwater by Wilde and was last printed in 1947. It confirmed the evidence I had of Dexter castle and the controversy with the Flemings as well as the tombstones of Richard Dexter in Stackallan that were moved to Church of Ireland in Slane.
