About Iosco County, Michigan, U.S., Esmond-Evergreen Cemetery Index, 1901-1999

This database consists of nearly 2,000 records dating from 1901 to 1999 that are maintained by the Plainfield Township clerk at Hale, Michigan. These records consist of either a copy of a Michigan death record (or equivalent) or a copy of a Michigan burial-transit permit (or equivalent), or both, for each person. Most of the records are for people buried in the Esmond/Evergreen Cemetery, and these records have the cemetery section number, block number, lot number, and grave number overwritten on the record. Researchers must be aware that these are not tombstone readings.

A few records designate people who were originally buried in Esmond-Evergreen and later removed to another cemetery (people who died in the township, but not buried there). This index does not indicate which type of record exists (death record or burial-transit permit), or if the person is actually buried in Esmond-Evergreen Cemetery. One can only determine these details by reading the original records.

Copies of this data may be purchased through the Huron Shores Genealogical Society, c/o Robert J. Parks Public Library, 6010 N. Skeel Avenue, Oscoda, MI 48750.
