About Settlers of Maryland, 1766-1783

This is the last volume in Mr. Coldham's important series of indexes to land grants issued in Maryland during the colonial period. It contains an alphabetical list (by grantee name) of the 4,500 grants issued in Maryland from l766 to the end of the Revolutionary War. Based exclusively on documents found at the Hall of Records in Annapolis, it provides a unique record of virtually every land grant made in Maryland during the twilight period of British colonial rule. Entries are arranged by family name, county, name of tract, acreage, date, and reference to original source(s).

Altogether, several thousand landowners are named along with their numerous and vast tracts of land.
