About Missouri Confederate Volunteers

A border state during the American Civil War, many residents of Missouri were sympathetic to the Confederate cause. At least eight thousand men from the state volunteered to fight for the Confederate States of America. Taken from the History of the First and Second Missouri Confederate Brigades, 1861-1865 published in 1879, this database lists over 1600 men who volunteered to fight in the 1st and 2nd Missouri Confederate Brigades. Researchers will find the name and rank of the volunteer along with information regarding residence and occupation. For those seeking male Missourian ancestors from the mid-1800's, this can be a useful source of information.
