Immigration case files involving Chinese, and Japanese, immigrants in the Portland, Oregon area from 1882-1903.

The majority of this collection includes landing records, specifically landing and returning records of merchants, Chinese applications for admission, registers of Chinese laborers departing for Hong Kong with their subsequent return, and Japanese landing books from Portland, Oregon.

Records in this series reference ports in Portland and Astoria, Oregon as well as Port Townsend and Tacoma, Washington. Although the title of this collection only refers to Chinese immigrants, records are included for Japanese immigrants as well.
