Kennedy, Beverly L. Mrs. – Obituary

Beverly L. Kennedy, 83, of Bremerton, Wash., a former Baker City resident, died Jan. 17, 2008, after a courageous battle against cancer.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be scheduled in the future.

Beverly was a 1942 Baker High School graduate. She attended Linfield College at McMinnville before marrying Robert D. Kennedy Jr. in October 1943 at Philadelphia.

Mrs. Kennedy was active in the Parent-Teacher Association, Cub Scouts and Blue Birds. She was particularly proud of her involvement in Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and her work with the PEO.
She was an active member of the Kitsap Golf and Country Club for many years. Her main hobbies were her family, golf, gardening, baking cookies, painting and card playing (excelling in the game of bridge). She was employed at JC Penney part time. She was a member of Manette Community Church and more recently Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church (CKPC).

She was one of the first people to successfully receive an open heart surgery in 1959. Her family members expressed gratitude to the women of CKPC, who brought over meals, and they especially thanked the many caring people from hospice, who were incredibly kind and loving in dealing with their wife and mom, especially Julie.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Robert; four children, Robert D. Kennedy III and his wife, Diane, D. Gene Kennedy and his wife, Marion, Richard J. Kennedy, and Elizabeth “Liz” Grahn and her husband, Gary; seven grandchildren, Christina Swartwood and her husband, Michael, Justin Kennedy, Frank Schram, Cary Schram and his wife, Katrina, Mark Kennedy and his wife, Donna, and Lori Calvert and her husband, Dale; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Sanders; and her brother, Carl J. Waltz Jr.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Manette Community Church or the Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383.
