subject that I, both by letter and verbally, informed you. You know that we formed an early and intimate friendship for each other, from our youthful days, which seem to cement the more as we advance in years. Therefore, I write as unreserved to you as I would to a brother under similar circumstances, please to let me know what you have done on that subject, while I have the pleasure to subscribe myself, Note: This letter is to be read in connection with those on pages 42 &43 of this collection, and its tenor and intent will to some extent be understood, especially as it makes reference to certain offices-F.D. Love, ------------------o----------------------------------o--------------------o----------------- An Instrument Know all men by these presents: that, I, Thomas D. Love, of the County of Carter and State of Tennessee, am held and firmly bound to William Gourley of County and State aforesaid, in the penal sum of two hundred dollars to be paid to the said William Gourly, his heirs or assigns, for which payment well and truly to be made, I bind myself, my heirs, executors, administrators firmly by these presents, sealed with my seal, this 26th day of November 1825. The condition of this obligation is such that if the above bound Thomas D. Love, his heirs, executors or administrators shall and do well and truly make or cause to be made to the said William Gourly, his heirs, executors or administrators a good and sufficient title in fee simple to fifty acres of land in the Limestone Cove, whereon Martin Russel now lives, and adjoining the land of _______ Smith, when the said William Gourly doth one hundred dollars worth of work on a Saw-Mill; his work rated at one-half money, and the other half trade. The Will to be placed on the place whereon said Love now lives, or as soon thereafter as said Love should have obtained a grant from the State of Tennessee, then this obligation shall be null and void, or else it shall remain in full force and ____________. Witness my hand and seal this 26th, day of November, 1825. I assign the within Bond to Samuel Smitherman or his heirs for value of him this 12th day of February, 1830. I acknowledge the above assignment to be good and consider myself bound as within to Samuel Smitherman. February 12th, 1830. Note: I copy the above simply for the purpose of showing some of the business that Thomas D. Love was engaged in, and some property, which was a great deal, that he owned, or was negotiating for-F.D.
