of the labor. I have none but pleasant memories of Col. Robert Love, save only the funeral services at which it was my duty, as a brother Mason in charge, to officiate. But my duties as a practicing lawyer and Professor of Law at the University of Tennessee, are so engrossing that I can not now comply with your request to give you the details of our acquaintance. Probably in the early future you may be here or I may have some leisure for this work. If so, it will gratify me to give you your request-the request of the baby son of my old and dear friend, Col. "Bob" Love, God rest his soul!

Deed from R. Love, deceased, to the heirs of
Thomas D. Love,

        This Indenture made this First day of April in the year one thousand and eight hundred and forty one, between Robert Love, Senior, of the County of Haywood and State of North Carolina of the one part, and Robert Love, Junior, Saraphina Love, Thomas D. Love, Junior, Evalina Love and John I. Love of the County of Carter and State of Tennessee of the other part. WITNESSETH, that for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen hundred and twenty five dollars, as a donation, being part of a division of my Western District of Tennessee lands, and for the further consideration of the love and affection which I have for my grandchildren, the sons and daughters, and legal representatives of my son, Thomas D. Love, deceased; do give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, convey unto Robert Love, Saraphina Love, Thomas D. Love, Evalina Lon and John I. Love, heirs and legal representatives of my son, Thomas D. Love, deceased, all of that piece or parcel of land situated, lying and being in the County of Weakley and Western District of Tennessee, in the thirteenth surveyors district, sections seven and eight, Ranges one and two, and known by the Stage Road Tract-containing by estimation five hundred acres, be the same more or less. To Have and To Hold to the said Robert Love, Saraphina Love, Thomas D. Love, Evalina Love and John I. Love, and their heirs and assigns forever, together with all and singular the ways, woods, waters, mines, minerals, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, to hold to them my grandchildren, the heirs and legal representatives of Thomas D. Love, their heirs, executors and administrators forever; and the reversion, remainder and remainders, rents, issues and profits of the aforesaid lands and premises and every part thereof, and all the estate right, title, interest, claims, property and demand whatsoever of the said Robert Love of, in and to the lands and premises hereby granted to have and to hold the aforesaid lands and premises as above described and every part thereof against him, the said Robert Love, and his heirs, and against the claim and claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming by or under him, the said R. Love, and his heirs and assigns, the claims or claim of all and every, the said R. Love, his heirs executors and administrators or of any of them shall and will warrant and forever defend against the claim of him, the said R. Love, his heirs and assigns or any other person or persons claiming under, by or through him unto the said R. Love, Junior, S. Love, Thomas D. Love, Evalina Love and John I. Love forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.
