fact that my great-grandfather was Joseph Love of Augusta County, VA, who married Mary Tase, daughter of Jane Tase, and I had the names of some of their children. My great-grandmother, Esther, his daughter, was born June 11th, 1770; died November 13th, 1850; married July 22nd, 1788; her husband, Wm. Steele (son of Aaron Steele both Revolutionary Soldiers) was born December 3rd, 1763 and died July 21st, 1825. They are both buried at the old Steele Church "Pendleton, S.C." I have it that Joseph Love moved to Elbert County, GA, after the Revolutionary War. His daughter, Ester, was married there. He moved to Tennessee where his wife died. There I lose him. Have you gotten the names of his children and anything of his son, Charles I. Love, or anything besides what I have in my paper of my branch of the Love family? I want to perfect every branch as far as possible.
I have just found out that Daniel Love, a Pennsylvania Quaker, was father of Samuel and Joseph Love. Did he have other children? and where do you get your information about him? My sister, Miss Sally Brown, and I want to go into the Colonial Dames by our Love gate. If not too much trouble, give me your earliest records and information. Where was Daniel Love from? Who were his wife, and the names of his children? We have five deeds for land sold to Joseph Love in Augusta County, Virginia (no wills); one from Samuel and Dorcas Love to Joseph, and one from Jane Tase. I will copy and return to you any information of my line that you have the time to send me; and if I get other facts, I will send them to you. I send a Love Record that was sent me from Knoxville that I will ask you to return. I do not see the connection, but they are from the right part of the country-Pennsylvania. There are Loves in South Georgia whose ancestors come from Augusta County, Virginia, but there I stop.
I have written you down a married man and send my congratulations. Hope to meet you some day. The old Loves were Presbyterians. We are Baptists. My grandfather, Brown, a deacon, tho the old Browns were all Presbyterians. My grandfather, Gresham, was a Baptist minister.
                                                Sincerely,
                                                Mary V. Connally (Mrs. E.L)

Dear Frank:
I recall no name of the old school of lawyers, now gone, which awakens more pleasure than that of your venerated father; both as a gentleman and as a lawyer he was typical of his class. Stately and proud, without arrogance-on the contrary in manner and expression he was gentle and suave as a woman. I do not know as to his scholarship, except what I gained from observation. His diction was pure and flawless, and in speech he occasionally made such references to the classics as to show his familiarity with them. He was essentially an equity lawyer, strong and convincing in argument, but without special gift in oratory; plain, concise and clear of statement in pleading and never guilty of unfairness or lack of frankness. He was one of the best entertainers in conversation I ever knew. He had a large fund of historical knowledge which he could draw upon with intense interest and effect. I picture him before me now, as a kindly faced and genial natured, but strong and self assertive gentleman of a "former generation". O, that we
