Wenneman, Joseph H.

The following data is extracted from The Book of Clevelanders, A Biographical Dictionary of Living Men of the City of Cleveland, Burrows Book Company, 1914.

Wenneman, Joseph H.; lawyer; born, Cleveland, May 23, 1871; son of Henry C. and Katharine Hoff Wenneman; educated, St. Mary's Parochial School, St. Ignatius College, received A. B., 1894, M. A., 1895, Western Reserve University, Law School, LL. B., 1896; married, Cleveland, April 12, 1899, Augusta Cecilia Sellers; issue, two sons, Joseph A. and William Henry; before entering college worked at various iron trades, also in wood cabinet makerworks; in 1895 was admitted to the bar; in June, 1895, opened law office in Cleveland; in October of that year formed partnership with Herman Presser under firm name of Presser & Wenneman; in 1897, admitted to practice in Federal Courts, and before Department of Interior; in 1900, dissolved partnership and practiced alone till fall of 1904, then formed partnership with C. O. McCray, under firm name of Wenneman & McCray, dissolved this relationship in 1908; in February, 1911, formed partnership with C. L. Gates and A. R. Edgerton, under firm name of Wenneman, Gates & Edgerton; has made a study of insurance and surety law; has acted as general agent for various Surety and Casualty companies; member Cleveland Law Library Ass'n, and Bar Ass'n, member St. John's Hospital Building Committee, and St. Stephen's Auditorium and School Building Committee, Catholic Mutual Benefit Assn, Grand Deputy of Ohio; Cleveland Chamber of Industry, Alumni Assn; Western Reserve University Law School president, 1912-1913.
