The following data is extracted from The Book of Clevelanders, A Biographical Dictionary of Living Men of the City of Cleveland, Burrows Book Company, 1914.

Friedrich, Martin; M. D.; born, Paussau, Prussia, May 11, 1885; son of Joseph and Therese Bauer Friedrich; early education in the schools of Passau and the gymnasium there; 4 years in the University of Munich; then went to Paris to study French Literature at the Sorbonne and the Bibliotheque; there three years; in 1892 entered the Medical Dept. of Western Reserve University, Cleveland; graduated with degree of M. D., 1894; spent two years in study abroad in Vienna, Paris and Berlin; in early years engaged in the lumber business in Crawford, Pa.; came to Cleveland in 1892; in 1897, associated with the College of Physicians and Surgeons as a lecturer on internal medicine and diagnosis; since 1901, health officer of Cleveland; consulting physician City Hospital, and Warrensville Sanitarium; member the following, Cleveland Academy of Medicine, State and American Medical Ass'n, Society for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis; American Public Health Ass'n, and The American and Ohio Health Committees; charter member German Literary Society, the Alliance Franchise, French; Literary Society; devotes much time to the study of public health and elimination and prevention of contagious diseases; under his direction, a bacteriological laboratory was opened; meat and milk inspection and daily school inspection started; member Chamber of Commerce; in Masonry, has attained Knight Templar degree; belongs to Forest City Commandery; member Schlaraffia German Literary Society.
