Ernst, A. C.; public accountant; born, Cleveland, son of John C. and Mary Hertel Ernst; public school, high school and business college education; married, Cleveland, June 24, 1903, Charlotte Fawcett; one daughter, Ruth, born Nov. 28, 1906; managing partner of Ernst & Ernst, certified public accountants; appointed auditors of City of Cleveland to examine the account of Cleve-land Railroad Co., during Baker's administration; first auditor appointed in such a capacity; have established offices in New York, Chicago, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Cleveland; firm rating as one of the leading accounting firms in the country; Attorney General in Columbus appointed him to examine a large number of banks; he did the examining of the Cincinnati Trust Co. (Cox) bank, which resulted in notorious disclosure; appointed sec'y of Red Cross Ohio Flood Relief Commission by Gov. Cox; director Osborn Mnfg. Co., Ohio Rubber Co., Service Recorder Co., and Bean Spray Pump Co.; member Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants; trustee Y. W. C. A.; chairman finance committee of Co-operative Employment Bureau for Girls; member committee of management of Y. M. C. A.; member Union and Athletic Clubs, Cleveland, and Chamber of Commerce, Automobile Club of America, New York; Business Mens'Club, Cincinnati; Toledo Club, Toledo, O.
