Daoust, Edward Chellis

The following data is extracted from The Book of Clevelanders, A Biographical Dictionary of Living Men of the City of Cleveland, Burrows Book Company, 1914.

Daoust, Edward Chellis; attorney-at-law; born, Defiance, O., Oct. 19, 1887; son of Charles J. and Mary Hooker Daoust; his father was a banker at Defiance, and his mother was the daughter of Judge Hooker, of Illinois; educated, Defiance High School, graduating, special student University of Michigan, 1904-1905, special student Scientific School, Yale University, 1907-1908; graduated from Yale 1909, with degree LL. B. (Nov honors); married, Cleveland, April 24, 1912, Clara Louis Bunts, daughter of Dr. Frank E. Bunts; issue, one daughter, Frances Harriet, born Feb. 12, 1913; private Troop A, First Squadron, Ohio National Guard, since 1910; entered general practice of law in Cleveland, December, 1909; in January, 1911, with John H. Price, John A. Alburn and Cary R. Alburn, formed the firm of Price, Alburn, Daoust & Al-burn; in July, 1911, Mr. Cary Alburn retired from the firm, to become Asst. U. S. Attorney, in May, 1912, was appointed United States Commissioner for Northern District of Ohio, by Judge William L. Day, serving in that capacity as incidental to his law practice; member Price, Alburn & Daoust, attorneys and counsellors-at-law; director of several corporations for which this firm acts as counsel; member Ohio Bar Ass'n, Yale Alumni Ass 'n and Civic League, Waite Chapter of Phi Delta Phi (legal fraternity at Yale), Society of "Corbey Court" at Yale; member Chamber of Commerce and associate member of Real Estate Board, member of Union, University, Tippecanoe and City Clubs, Sons of American Revolution, Omega Lodge, F. & A. M., and New York Athletic Club; treas. of Ohio Republican College League. Recreations: Tennis, Georgian Bay Black Bass, and Good Books; interested in Civic affairs and river and harbor improvements for Cleveland, and in financial subjects and the study of investments.
