Bate, Herbert; florist; born, Cleveland, Dec. 19, 1876; son of Richard and E. M. Pearce Bate; educated Cleveland public schools; married, Cleveland, June 30, 1903, Amelia Flick; one son; in 1897, started in the florist business with Bate Bros. in East Cleveland; in 1904, they consolidated with F. R. Williams, forming The Cut Flower Co.; was in the selling end until 1906; went into the growing end of the business and still continues there; now starting new green houses at Newton Falls; vice pres. The Cleveland Cut Flower Co.; member Masonic Lodge Woodward No. 508, America' Carnation Society, Florists Club. Recreations: Motoring, Fishing and Out-door Sports.
