Perkins, Joseph R.

The following data is extracted from Counties Of Todd And Christian, Kentucky - Todd.

JOSEPH R. PERKINS was born April 21, 1815, in Russell County, Ky. The parents were Richard and Nancy (Graves) Perkins. The father was born in North Carolina; he died June 4, 1847, aged fifty-eight. The mother was born in Virginia; she died March 14, 1848, aged sixty. Our subject came to Elkton in 1834, where he sold goods till 1840, when he came to this farm, where he has since lived. This farm consists of about 600 acres, and is improved with buildings which cost over $12,000. His brother, Judge Ben T. Perkins, a resident of Elkton, has held public offices ever since coming to this county. Mr. Perkins was married in 1837 to Miss M. P. Gray. She was born in Todd County, October 19, 1819. This lady died January 13, 1875, leaving seven children-four sons and three daughters. He is a member of the Christian Church.
