Reese, Asbury Stamper

The following data is extracted from Counties Of Todd And Christian, Kentucky - Todd.

ASBURY STAMPER REESE was born December 16, 1829, in Shelby County, Ky.; removed with his parents to Todd County in 1833, where he grew to manhood and still retains his residence. His father, Rev. Thomas G. Reese, long a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born on the line dividing North Carolina and Georgia, in 1799, and died here in 1881. He was the son of James Reese, who died in this county in 1837. Subject's mother, Susanna (Demaree), was born in Shelby County, Ky., and died in 1850. To her and husband were born: subject, Jane C. (Tyson), William McK., Samuel F. D., Mary C., B. P'Pool, Thomas M. and Susan A. (Willis). Subject was favored with a fair education, and is a considerable reader of current literature. In 1865 he was married to Miss Sarah B., daughter of Rev. Fountain E. Pitts, of Tennessee, and this union was blessed with Pitts D., Martha S., Juliet M., Stonewall J., Fountainella, Asbury S. and Samuel T. Mr. Reese is a successful farmer, owning 550 acres of valuable land in general good condition. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity; a Methodist and a Democrat.
