The following data is extracted from Counties Of Todd And Christian, Kentucky - Todd.
K. L. TERRY was born December 29, 1841, in Muhlenburg County, Ky. William A. and Elizabeth (Hay) Terry were his parents. The father was a native of Virginia, the mother of North Carolina. The father was a farmer; his death occurred in 1844, aged twenty-four years. The mother is still living at the age of sixty-six years; the parents were members of the Baptist Church. These parents had two children, K. L. and William B. The latter is a druggist in Princeton, Ky. K. L. began for himself at the age of twenty-six. Previously he had assisted his mother on a farm. He enlisted October 1, 1861, in Company K., Eleventh Kentucky Regiment, United States Infantry. He participated in the battles of Shiloh, Stone River, Rural Hill, and the 100-days battle or Atlanta campaign. His discharge dates December 17, 1864, having served three years two months and seventeen days. Ile was afflicted by being vaccinated by " virus vaccine" and did but little army service after-ward, except keeping records and official duties as First Sergeant of the company. The effects of that " doctored vaccine" are till carried by Mr. Terry and will be through life. On returning from the army he worked on the farm for his mother until 1867, since which time he has been doing for himself. Ile was elected Constable in Muhlenburg County, Ky., which office he held from 1875 to 1879; he kept a boarding house in Greenville from 1879 to 1881, since which time he has been farming, and meeting with moderate success. He is nicely located on what is known as " the bend." He was married first in October, 1867, to Miss Laura E. Martin of Muhlenburg County. To Mr. and Mrs. Terry were born two children viz.: Mary A. and Bettie B. Mrs. Terry died September, 1875, aged twenty-six years. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Terry was next married January 22, 1878, to Miss Dicey A. McKinney, of this county. Gano E. and William Mc. are their children. Both parents are members of the Baptist Church. Mr. Terry is also a member of the Masonic order.
