     Luther Kyle, attorney at law, whose practice has largely to do with land and mineral law gild who since the 1st of April 1920 has practiced in partnership with S. B. Dawes, under the firm style of Dawes & Kyle, was born in Carroll County, Tennessee, his parents being Erastus Robert and Angeline (Butler) Kyle, the former a farmer by occupation.
     In the acquirement of his education Luther Kyle attended the public schools and afterward became a student in the Southern Normal University at Huntington, Tennessee, where he was graduated as a member of the class of 1894. The succeeding two years were largely devoted to preparation for the bar and he was admitted to practice at Muskogee on the 1st of June, 1896. He then entered upon general practice and for two years was located in Tahlequah, while the succeeding five years were spent in Stilwell. On the expiration of that period he removed to Sallisaw, Oklahoma, where he followed his profession for fifteen years.
     On the 1st of April, 1920, he came to Muskogee and entered into his present partnership relation with S. B. Dawes, recognized as one of the prominent members of the Oklahoma bar. The firm of Dawes & Kyle has enjoyed an extensive practice, largely handling land and mineral cases and in these branches of the profession both partners are well versed. While at Sallisaw Mr. Kyle served as probate commissioner and referee in bankruptcy and was also master in chancery before statehood. In these connections he served for the United States in Sallisaw and at Tahlequah, continuing to preside over chancery courts until the admission of Oklahoma into the Union in 1907. He likewise filled the office of county attorney in Sequoyah county for a period of four years, from 1916 until 1920.
     Mr. Kyle was married to Miss Blanche Mason, a native of the state of Iowa, and they have become parents of two children Mason and Roberta. Mr. and Mrs. Kyle hold membership in St. Paul's Methodist Episcopal Church, South. He manifests deep interest in all branches of the church work and withholds his support and championship from no cause or project that is proving an effective force in bringing about the uplift of the individual and the advancement of higher standards of citizenship.
