The following data is extracted from Record of Ancestors and Descendants of Adam Dittemore 1799-1874 and Henry Dittemore 1813-1884.
George Washington Dittemore was born Dec. 25, 4826, in Owen County, Indiana. He went to Kansas in 1854 and pre-empted his farm in Doniphan County. He was married March 8, 1851. to Miss Emily Tyler. She was born in Putman County, Indiana, Feb. 15. 1833. George W. was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Co. A, 13th Kansas Infantry from 1862 to 1865. He was a Republican and a member of the Christian Church. He died May 2 ,5. 1897, and she on August 4, 1903. Their children:
64. William Perry, b. Dec. 5, 1853. 65. Margaret Caran, b. 1855, m. John Vigus. 66. JOHN MICHAEL DITTEMORE, born Oct. 25, 1859, died April 2, 1937. He was a bachelor but helped raise several nephews after the death of his brother. He was a member of the Severance, Kansas Christian Church. He died on the farm his father homesteaded. 67. JAMES COLVIN DITTEMORE, born March 29, 1863, died July 5, 1906. He married Oct. 24, 1894, Norah Tracy (July 13, 1875-June 12, 1913). Their children: 236. James Hubert, b. August 13, 1896. 237. John Michael, b. Jan. 19, 1899. 238. William Everett, b. Dec. 11, 1903. 68. Adam, b. July 10, 1868.
