Michael Dittemore was born in 1763. He married Elizabeth (last name not known) who was born in 1770. We have only a meager record of the movements of the family prior to 1815 but we know they lived for some time in Greene County Tennessee, where Henry (No. 15 of this record) was born. In 1815, Michael and Elizabeth and their family settled in Owen County, Indiana. In June, 1829, Michael bought 50 acres of land from Ephriam Goss and Abner Alexander on which he built a double, two-story log house, which was considered the finest in all that part of the country. This land is now known as the Sanders Addition to the town of Gosport. Michael was a farmer but from about 1829 to the time of his death he dealt in real estate as we have a number of old deeds conveying property in and around Gosport. Elizabeth died Oct. 6, 1837, and Michael July 11, 1839. Both are buried in the Old Union Cemetery near Gosport, Indiana. They had nine children:
3. JOHN, b. 1789. 4. ADAM, b. Sept. 3, 1799. 5. Thomas. 6. George. 7. Margaret, m. Johnathon Carson. 8. Sarah, m. Adam Eslinger. 9. Elizabeth, m. Joseph Ephriam Goss. 10. Michael, Jr. 11. Lydia, m. James Beck.
